Behind that sight, however, is a very modern handguard: the RIS III rail system, which uses slim M?LOK attachment points instead of the older, heavier quad?rail design. The barrel is a 14.5?inch cold hammer forged barrel, chambered in 5.56mm NATO or .223 Remington, known for accuracy and long life. The lower receiver is fully ambidextrous, so shooters can work the bolt catch, magazine release, and safety from either side. The whole rifle is lightweight, around 6.74 pounds empty, and its overall length varies from about 32.25 inches with the stock collapsed to roughly 35.88 inches when extended.
