About Real S&W Model 29
The S&W Model
29 is a classic, large-frame revolver, most famous for being chambered
for the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge. It is a six-shot, double-action
revolver, meaning it can be fired either by a long trigger pull that
cocks and releases the hammer or by manually cocking the hammer first
for a lighter trigger pull. Introduced in 1955, it was hailed as the
world's most powerful production handgun at the time.
The revolver
was developed from the work of ballistic pioneer Elmer Keith, who pushed
for a more powerful handgun cartridge, leading to the creation of the
.44 Magnum. Smith & Wesson built its robust "N-frame" to handle the
new round. While it was always respected by handgun hunters and
enthusiasts, its fame reached iconic status when Clint Eastwood wielded
it as Inspector "Dirty Harry" Callahan in the 1971 film, creating a
massive surge in public demand.
The Model 29 has been produced with a
variety of barrel lengths, from 3 inches to over 10 inches, and
typically features a highly polished blued or nickel-plated finish with
adjustable target sights. It can also fire the milder .44 Special
cartridge. A significant variant, the Model 629, is the stainless-steel
version. While standard production has paused at times, Smith &
Wesson continues to offer the Model 29 through its Classic Series,
preserving this legendary firearm's legacy.
About Tanaka S&W M29 PC 6 inch Target Hunter Heavy Weight Ver.3 Gas Revolver
In the realm of firearms, the Smith & Wesson Model 29 is renowned as a powerful revolver, historically chosen for hunting large and dangerous game. It offers formidable power while maintaining greater manageability and a more compact profile compared to bulkier super-magnum revolvers like the .500. With a production history stretching back to 1955, the M29 is a true classic. Tanaka has impeccably replicated this legendary sidearm, capturing its intricate detailing and robust frame. This model is a representation of S&W's Performance Center (PC) series, originating from the company's custom shop dedicated to crafting innovative and distinctive revolvers. This "Target Hunter" PC version embodies that custom spirit, boasting a more tactical and contemporary aesthetic than the traditional model.
The Tanaka S&W M29 PC 6-inch Target Hunter Heavy Weight Ver.3 Gas Revolver is engineered from high-quality polymer, yet it incorporates Japan's unique heavyweight manufacturing technique. This specialized process endows the polymer components with a remarkably realistic metallic feel, achieving a convincing weight and texture that is difficult to distinguish from real steel. It features a rubber N-frame pistol grip designed with a non-slip texture and an ergonomic shape for a secure and comfortable hold. Enhancing the authentic experience are several functional metal parts, including the trigger, hammer, cylinder release, adjustable rear sight, and a steel ejector rod. The BBs are loaded directly into the heavyweight polymer cylinder, which also houses the gas inlet.
At the core of its operation is the advanced Pegasus III system, a highly regarded gas propulsion platform known for its robust power delivery and reliable performance. This system facilitates a smooth double-action trigger pull: each press of the trigger causes the hammer to draw back and then swing forward with a satisfying metallic click, simultaneously rotating the cylinder to the next chamber. This allows for continuous, revolver-typical operation. For any enthusiast of large-frame revolvers, this meticulously crafted airsoft model is an indispensable piece for any collection, and its high level of realism also makes it perfectly suited for use as a prop in film and media
