About FAMAS F1 Rifle

The FAMAS F1 is a French bullpup assault rifle that was developed and manufactured by MAS (Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-?tienne) in the 1970s. It was adopted as the standard-issue rifle of the French military in 1978, replacing the older MAS 49/56 semi-automatic rifle and MAT-49 submachine gun. The FAMAS F1 is known for its distinctive bullpup design, where the action and magazine are located behind the trigger, allowing for a compact overall length without sacrificing barrel length. This configuration makes the rifle well-suited for close-quarters combat while maintaining accuracy at medium ranges.
Chambered in 5.56?45mm NATO, the FAMAS F1 features selective fire capabilities, enabling semi-automatic, three-round burst, and fully automatic firing modes. It uses a lever-delayed blowback operating system, which is relatively uncommon among modern assault rifles. The rifle has an integrated bipod and a carrying handle with a built-in rear sight, while the front sight is mounted on the barrel. Early models of the FAMAS F1 were designed to use proprietary 25-round magazines, though later variants could accept STANAG magazines.
The FAMAS F1 saw extensive service with the French Armed Forces and was used in various conflicts, including the Gulf War, peacekeeping missions in the Balkans, and counter-terrorism operations. Over time, it was gradually replaced by the modernized FAMAS G2 and, more recently, by the HK416F as France's standard-issue rifle. Despite its retirement, the FAMAS F1 remains an iconic firearm, recognized for its unique design and role in French military history.

Constructed primarily from polymer, the receiver, handguard, and stock integrate reinforced metal components at the magazine housing. Notable features include an oversized polymer carry handle with  adjustable iron sights Set, a rubber buttpad, and a removable cheek rest. The barrel system combines a 90mm steel outer barrel with a 50mm muzzle brake and a precision 6.03mm Maple Leaf 488mm inner barrel.
Additional components encompass a steel bipod, polymer dummy grenade launcher sight with barrel adjustment tool, and a 25-round metal magazine featuring a front-positioned polymer release for rapid changes. The rifle further includes a steel trigger assembly, stock-mounted sling swivel, steel receiver pins, polymer cocking handle, and polymer magazine releases strategically placed for efficient operation.
