Only a limited number of Mateba firearms have been produced throughout their history. These unique weapons were developed by Mateba, a company based in Pavia, Italy. The Mateba M2007 operates in a similar manner to conventional revolvers, relying on the user to physically pull the trigger and/or cock the hammer to initiate its mechanism. Notably, the Mateba distinguishes itself from other revolvers through its unconventional barrel alignment. Unlike the majority of revolvers, where the barrel is aligned with the top of the cylinder, the Mateba aligns its barrel with the bottom. This innovative design lowers the bore axis, resulting in reduced muzzle flip and recoil that aligns more effectively with the shooter's hand.

with the sight alignment, as the bore is positioned along the lower
frame. In contrast to most Marushin revolvers, this model features an
easily accessible hop-up adjustment point located on the upper part of
the frame, halfway down the gun. Adjusting the hop-up is a simple task

through its prominent presence in the anime series Ghost in the Shell,
