The Mateba, an exceptionally rare firearm, has had only a limited production run. Its development can be attributed to Mateba, a company headquartered in Pavia, Italy. Similar to conventional revolvers, the Mateba M2007 operates by requiring the user to physically pull the trigger and/or cock the hammer to engage the weapon's mechanism. However, what sets the Mateba apart from other revolvers is its distinctive barrel alignment. Unlike the majority of revolvers, the Mateba positions the barrel aligned with the bottom of the cylinder rather than the top. This arrangement effectively lowers the bore axis, directing recoil in line with the shooter's hand, thereby mitigating the typical twisting motion or muzzle flip associated with traditional revolvers.

The Marushin Mateba faithfully replicates the functionality of its real steel counterpart. Although peculiar in appearance, it proves highly practical. One aspect that may necessitate adaptation is the sight alignment, given that the bore is situated along the lower frame. Diverging from most Marushin revolvers, this particular model includes an easily accessible hop-up adjustment point. Positioned on the upper part of the frame, halfway down the gun, it can be conveniently modified using a hex key. The distinctively unique Mateba gained prominence through its presence in the acclaimed anime series Ghost in the Shell, rendering it instantly recognizable and sought-after as a prop gun within the anime community.
