The Mateba is a rare and unique firearm, with only a limited number ever produced. Developed by Mateba in Pavia, Italy, the Mateba M2007 operates similarly to conventional revolvers, requiring the user to physically pull the trigger and/or cock the hammer to activate its mechanism. However, the Mateba stands out due to its distinctive barrel alignment. Unlike most revolvers, its barrel is aligned with the bottom of the cylinder instead of the top. This design reduces the bore axis, aligning the recoil with the shooter's hand and minimizing the twisting motion or muzzle flip commonly experienced with traditional revolvers.
The Marushin Mateba faithfully replicates the functionality of its real steel counterpart. While peculiar in appearance, it proves to be highly practical. Adjusting to the sight alignment may take some getting used to, as the bore is located along the lower frame. Unlike other Marushin revolvers, this model features an easily accessible hop-up adjustment point. Located halfway down the upper part of the frame, it can be adjusted using a hex key. The visually unique Mateba gained recognition through its appearance in the anime series Ghost in the Shell, making it a popular choice as an anime prop gun.
