The AK-105 is a compact carbine developed by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) as part of the AK-100 series, chambered in 5.45x39mm. It bridges the gap between the full-length AK-74M and the ultra-compact AKS-74U, featuring a shorter barrel while retaining the side-folding polymer stock of the AK-74M. Designed for vehicle crews, special operations, and urban combat scenarios where a more maneuverable weapon is essential, the AK-105 entered service in the late 1990s and has been adopted by various Russian military and law enforcement units. The GHK AK105 V3 GBBR is built around GHK's brand-new AK V3 GBB system, representing a complete ground-up redesign that is not compatible with parts from the older GHK AK GBB series. The externals feature a steel 100mm outer barrel paired with a steel 65mm AK105-style muzzle brake on a 24mm CW thread, a steel gas block, and a steel AK-style lower receiver with steel top cover. The handguard is a 160mm polymer unit with an integrated sling hook at the front end, complemented by a polymer pistol grip in traditional AK style.

The polymer AK105-style foldable stock features a steel stock pad, with a metal sling swivel on the left front side and a practical round storage compartment hidden behind the stock pad for stowing small accessories or tools. The magazine is a fiberglass 40-round AK-style gas magazine with a steel magazine base, providing durability and realistic weight distribution.

All critical small components are constructed from steel, including the trigger with trigger guard, magazine release, front and rear sights, fire selector safety, and the AK-style charging handle ? ensuring long-lasting performance under heavy use.

Internally, the V3 system introduces a completely new HOP-UP assembly set with a dual-nub bucking design and quick-release mechanism for easy maintenance. Two included buffers allow shooters to fine-tune the rate of fire and bolt travel distance. The new MCGS (Multi-Compartment Gas System) gas magazine is 20% lighter than the previous version (670g down to 540g), with a multi-compartment design that extends gas expansion dwell time and improves gas output consistency shot after shot. An enhanced gas-fill reservoir ensures longer shooting sessions between fills.
