The initial batch of M110A1 CSASS rifles was primarily issued in small numbers to units such as the 82nd Airborne Division. Beginning in 2020, the rifle was distributed to U.S. Army infantry brigades?including the 3rd Infantry Division, select units of the 82nd Airborne, and National Guard formations such as the 116th, 27th, and 44th IBCT?as well as specialized Air Force units like Pararescue, EOD, and Security Forces. By 2023, the rifle had been adopted across the entire U.S. military, with approximately 7,000 units in service. It has also been seen in recent conflicts in the Middle East and counterterrorism operations.
