The SIG Sauer MCX-SPEAR LT is a lightweight, modular semi-automatic rifle developed for the commercial and law enforcement markets. It is a direct civilian derivative of the rifle that won the U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program, which was adopted as the XM7 (now M7). The key difference is that while the military rifle fires a proprietary high-pressure 6.8x51mm round, the SPEAR LT is chambered for common calibers like 5.56x45mm NATO, .300 AAC Blackout, and 7.62x39mm, making it practical for civilian use. The "LT" (Lightweight) designation is achieved through a redesigned, slimmer handguard and a medium-contour barrel, reducing weight compared to its predecessor. Its core feature is exceptional modularity, centered on a user-interchangeable barrel system. By loosening two captive screws, the barrel and gas piston assembly can be swapped, allowing a quick change of caliber or barrel length (common options are 9", 11.5", and 16") for different roles. It uses a reliable short-stroke gas piston operating system that runs cleaner than direct impingement, especially with a suppressor. The rifle is fully ambidextrous, including a unique bolt catch/release on both sides. A critical feature is its folding stock, made possible because the recoil springs are in the upper receiver, eliminating the need for a fixed buffer tube. This allows the rifle to be fired once in an emergency even when folded and makes it extremely compact for storage. It is suppressor-ready from the factory with an adjustable gas block. In the realm of real steel, the MCX Spear LT Style rifle was launched in 2022 and is primarily used by special forces. This APFG MCX Spear LT Style SBR 9-inch GBB Airsoft Rifle features a metal 200mm M-Lok system handguard. The skeletal structure of this handguard significantly reduces the amount of metal material, effectively and substantially lowering its weight. It also includes a metal upper and lower receiver (with sling sockets on both), a metal 200mm outer barrel with a steel 60mm three-prong muzzle brake, a metal dummy gas block, and a Picatinny rail on top for mounting your preferred RDS red dot sight or scope. The rifle is equipped with a metal minimalist stock and a metal foldable adapter (mounts to the receiver?s Picatinny rail), a polymer pistol grip, and a metal 30-round loading capacity magazine.
Additionally, the rifle comes with various small metal components: a metal ambidextrous selector, a metal ambidextrous magazine release, a steel ambidextrous bolt catch, a metal trigger, a metal charging handle, a steel forward assist, a steel dust cover, and a metal bolt. The trigger on this airsoft rifle has a very short travel distance a light press is enough to fire. In full-auto mode, the rate of fire is smooth and fluid, with a loud sound and strong recoil, delivering a high-quality experience.
