About Real S&W M27
The S&W Model 27 is a revolver that holds a truly legendary status in firearms history, primarily because it was the very first handgun ever created for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge when it was introduced in 1935. At that time, it was not initially called the Model 27 but was known as the Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum, often referred to by collectors as the "Registered Magnum." This original version was remarkable because it was essentially a custom-order firearm; customers could specify details like barrel length in quarter-inch increments, the type of grips, the finish, and the sight configuration, and each gun came with a registration certificate. This level of quality and personalization made it an immediate success among elite shooters and law enforcement, despite its high cost during the Great Depression, and it famously became the sidearm of General George S. Patton, who carried one with ivory grips.
From a design perspective, the Model 27 is built on Smith & Wesson's large "N-frame," a robust platform necessary to safely contain the high pressure of the new .357 Magnum round. One of its most distinctive and enduring aesthetic features is the fine checkering, or knurling, machined onto the top strap of the frame, which was originally intended to reduce glare and remains a hallmark of its premium heritage. A practical advantage of its chambering is that it can also safely fire the milder and more economical .38 Special cartridge, offering great versatility for both powerful defense and more comfortable target practice.
In 1957, S&W officially assigned it the model number 27, and it remained in continuous production with various engineering updates until 1994. Due to its enduring popularity, the company later reintroduced it as the Model 27 Classic, which combines the original's revered design and carbon steel construction with modern manufacturing, typically offering barrel lengths of 4 inches and 6.5 inches.

About Tanaka S&W M27 The.357 Magnum 3.5 inch Nickel Finish Model Gun
Tanaka has meticulously crafted this dummy revolver, a model that has been favored by law enforcement agencies in multiple countries for over 60 years, making it a classic firearm. This Tanaka S&W M27 .357 Magnum 3.5-inch Nickel Finish Model Gun is primarily constructed from ABS material. Although it is made of polymer, it still carries a substantial weight. Combined with its nickel finish, it gives the user the sensation of holding a real firearm, offering a satisfyingly realistic feel. The surface features precise markings, and it is equipped with a wood-texture polymer grip, complete with a silver logo emblem on the grip itself. The polymer revolver cylinder comes with 6 rounds of metal dummy cartridges and a 3.5-inch barrel. Additionally, it includes small yet detailed components such as a metal hammer, metal trigger, metal cylinder release, and steel cylinder ejector.
In summary, this is a non-firing dummy revolver. Although it lacks the ability to shoot, its meticulous craftsmanship, distinct texture, and weight, combined with its realistic operational features, make it stand out. Each time the trigger is pulled, the hammer moves back and then strikes forward, producing a metallic clicking sound. Simultaneously, the cylinder rotates, advancing one notch with each pull, just like a real firearm.
If you are an enthusiast of antique firearms and also have an interest in police memorabilia, this revolver is an essential addition to your collection. It can also serve as a movie prop, adding authenticity to any production.
