About Real Smith & Wesson Model 686

The Smith & Wesson Model 686 is a stainless-steel, double-action revolver chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge, though it can also fire the less powerful .38 Special rounds. Introduced in 1980 as part of Smith & Wesson's L-Frame series, the Model 686 was designed to handle the high pressures of the .357 Magnum while offering improved durability over the company's earlier K-Frame revolvers. It features a six or seven-round cylinder, depending on the variant, and is known for its robust construction, smooth trigger pull, and excellent balance. The revolver typically comes with a full-length underlug barrel, which adds weight to reduce recoil and improve accuracy. Common barrel lengths range from 2.5 to 6 inches, catering to both concealed carry and target shooting purposes. The Model 686 is highly regarded for its reliability, making it a popular choice among law enforcement officers, competitive shooters, and firearms enthusiasts. Its combination of power, precision, and craftsmanship has solidified the Model 686 as a classic in the revolver market.

About ARES x CL Project Design 4inch Combat Version CO2 Revolver

ARES has embarked on an unprecedented collaboration with CL Project to design this airsoft revolver, which captures the distinctive feel of IPSC competition. Renowned for their expertise in designing and customizing airsoft pistols, CL Project is led by a designer with years of firearm modification experience, giving the brand a unique and authoritative presence in the market. For this project, Clarence Lai partnered with ARES to create a revolver that is lightweight, uniquely styled, visually appealing, and modern.
This ARES x CL Project Design 4-inch CO2 Combat Version Airsoft Revolver is based on the ARES S&W 686 platform. It features a metal frame and a metal outer barrel, both finished in a matte black coating and engraved with ".357 MAGNUM" markings. The cylinder is finished in a burnt bronze metal. The revolver is equipped with Picatinny rails on both the top and bottom, allowing users to mount their preferred flashlight or red dot sight. It also comes with metal fiber optic front and rear iron sights, which include an orange fiber rod and are adjustable for windage and elevation. The pistol grip is made of rubber for a secure, non-slip hold and houses the CO2 capsule.
Additional detailed metal components include a silver-colored metal trigger, a silver-colored metal hammer, and an enhanced metal cylinder release designed for improved user ergonomics. This cylinder release is extended in length compared to traditional designs, positioning it conveniently close to the hammer for easier operation. Its function is intuitive and engaging: pulling it backward engages the safety, the central position is for firing, and pushing it forward releases the cylinder. This clever design allows the user to control the primary functions of the revolver using just their thumb.
A significant highlight is the internal modification work by CL Project. These enhancements result in a trigger that is notably easier to operate than that of the standard ARES S&W 686. It requires less pull force, facilitating faster shooting and a smoother, more comfortable trigger experience.
The package includes six metal dummy .357-style cartridges, each capable of holding one 6mm BB, and a durable hard gun case measuring 345mm x 190mm x x 70mm. Furthermore, the revolver features an adjustable hop-up system, located on the frame above the Picatinny rail, which can be fine-tuned using a hex key.
In summary, with the distinctive touch of Clarence Lai's design, this airsoft revolver has been transformed into a stylish and compelling piece. It stands out as a rare offering in the market, making it an excellent choice both for competitive wargaming and as a collector's item.
