Which airsoft MCX should you buy? Start with the operating system, not the silhouette. The SIG AIR/VFC Virtus AEG is the electric route; an APFG Rattler is a compact gas-blowback option; Salvo Precision offers MCX-style rifles built around an MWS-derived system. Their similar names do not make their magazines or internal parts interchangeable.

If you want the MCX shape without switching to gas magazines, start with the Virtus AEG. If the moving bolt and gas-operated handling are the attraction, compare APFG with Salvo. Existing MWS ownership makes Salvo worth investigating, but it does not establish that your particular magazines or upgrades will fit.

The eHobbyAsia black Virtus listing specifies a 7.4V battery and Small Tamiya connector. Match the instructions supplied with your exact regional version, and confirm the usable battery space before ordering a pack. Changing the front end can also affect wiring clearance. A part that looks right in a build photo may not leave room for your battery.
The Rattler LT shown above is the Dual Magazine Version. Its listing describes a folding stock and two 30-round gas magazines. That is a package description, not a promise about every APFG Rattler sold under a similar title. Ask the seller to confirm the stock, magazine count and current configuration before checkout.
For spare magazines, request a part number explicitly approved for that rifle. Do not convert a broad “VFC-compatible” claim into a guarantee for every VFC-style magazine shell or generation. This guide does not claim a verified universal APFG magazine list.
The linked Salvo Spear LT is described as MWS-based, but it also has a short-stroked SCX bolt arrangement and a different stock layout. Those details matter when choosing service parts. Confirm the exact production revision, including whether the rifle is the stainless-steel-bolt listing, rather than relying on an unqualified “V2” or “V3” in a second-hand advert.
Already have TM MWS magazines? Send their exact version and feed-lip photos to the seller and ask whether they work unchanged in the Salvo version being supplied. Do the same for nozzles, hop-up parts and trigger components. A shared system label is not proof of complete internal interchangeability.

For the AEG, plan for the specified battery, a suitable charger and confirmed magazines. For either GBB route, identify the approved magazines you want to carry and the recommended gas. Check what the package actually includes before adding extras, and confirm shipping arrangements for your destination.

Confirm that the seller can ship the exact variant to your destination, what the package contains, who handles a faulty item and how replacement parts are obtained. There is no single answer across platforms. Start by separating AEG magazines from gas magazines, then match the specific rifle, magazine and revision. An M4-shaped magazine is not necessarily the correct one.
Do not assume so. The linked Salvo model is MWS-derived but uses an SCX bolt arrangement. Obtain component-specific confirmation, especially for the bolt, nozzle, magazine feed lips and hop-up assembly.
Do not shop for it that way. The XM7 listing has a different configuration and a separately specified 22-round magazine. Treat it as a distinct model when buying magazines or service parts.
Start with the AEG route if you want battery-powered operation. Choose APFG or Salvo when gas-blowback handling is a deliberate preference and you have confirmed the ongoing magazine and parts costs. This is a use-case recommendation, not a tested reliability ranking.
