Check the product category and exact version before choosing a classic replica. A brand collection can contain airsoft guns, model guns and spare parts. Brand name, realistic finish or a familiar model number does not tell you what the item does.

Tanaka: not every revolver uses removable shells

The Tanaka S&W .38 Joker 2-inch Heavyweight gas revolver listing describes a 10-BB capacity, fixed hop-up and a cylinder-loaded system without removable shells. Its heavyweight finish is not a claim of all-metal construction. Use the power source stated for this exact version; do not generalise it to every Tanaka revolver.

Marushin: distinguish the model and its feeding system

The Marushin M1 Garand GBB, Walnut Stock Brown listing describes gas power, semi-automatic operation, an eight-round magazine/clip that ejects when empty, and adjustable hop-up. An ejecting clip is not the same as individual ejecting cartridges. Check current availability on the product page.

Questions before buying a collector replica

Does “model gun” mean it is a BB-firing airsoft gun?

Do not treat the terms as interchangeable. Check the listing's product category, function and ammunition or cartridge description. A model-gun cartridge or dummy cartridge is not an airsoft consumable by default.

Do all products from one brand use the same BB diameter?

No diameter should be assumed from the brand alone. Match the exact model, version and cartridge specification. A similar name does not justify substituting a 6mm or 8mm cartridge.

Does a cartridge-looking cylinder have removable shells?

Not necessarily, as the Tanaka Joker example shows. Distinguish fixed cylinder loading, removable cartridges and an ejecting magazine/clip before choosing accessories.

Does heavyweight mean full metal?

No. Read the material specification for the exact replica. Weight and surface finish do not establish the material of its frame or internal parts.
