Gas Airsoft Pistols
Gas airsoft pistols are very realistic replicas of real pistols that are powered by compressed gas. Gas airsoft pistols come in many forms including revolvers, non-blowback airsoft pistols (NBB), and gas blowback airsoft pistols (GBB). NBB pistols have no external moving parts, while GBB pistols have moving slides that cycle like a real gun. Most gas pistols shoot in semi-auto mode but some can shoot in full-auto as well. Popular gas airsoft pistols are Glock gas airsoft pistols, Hi Capa gas airsoft pistols, Beretta gas M9 airsoft pistols, and 1911 gas airsoft pistols.

What are gas airsoft pistols?
Green gas airsoft pistols are powered by propane gas that can come in a variety of pressures. The most popular green gas comes in 12Kg pressure, with more powerful airsoft gas available in 14Kg and 18Kg. Most green gas airsoft pistols are designed to take regular green gas with 12Kg pressure. Some Japanese guns can only accept an even lower pressure gas called HFC134, which is the same as duster gas, although most Japanese guns nowadays can also reliably accept 12Kg green gas. Gas airsoft pistols do not perform well in very cold weather so if you live in a cold climate and wish to use an airsoft pistol, you might consider an electric airsoft pistol instead, which is less affected by temperature.Gas airsoft pistols can come in several configurations, including non-blowback pistols (NBB) and gas blowback airsoft pistols (GBB). NBB pistols have fixed slides which do not move when the pistol is fired. NBB pistols are usually more powerful and gas efficient because no gas is wasted to cycle the slide during each shot. GBB pistols are the most popular because the slide will cycle on each shot. On full-auto GBB pistols, the slide will cycle continously for as long as the trigger is pulled back. GBB pistols are much more popular because of the realistic shooting experience and the recoil impulse that is felt by the slide moving backward. There is also a lesser known class of gas airsoft pistols known as Partial blowback pistols (PBB) where a small section of the slide cycles. these small moving components creates a much faster cycling rate but offers less in terms of blowback recoil impulse.
Gas airsoft pistols are the most popular category within airsoft since they are generally more affordable than a rifle, and are available in a huge number of models and styles. If you're on a budget and want to get started in airsoft, picking up a gas airsoft pistol is a good way to start. Gas airsoft pistols also make great secondary weapons to a primary rifle. Gas pistols are also great for plinking at home or in your backyard.
If you intend to take your gas airsoft pistol to a game field, we strongly suggest you gas a pistol bag to protect your pistol during transport. Other accessories available for pistols include spare magazines, flashlights and lasers, silencers, and holsters.
Many gas airsoft pistols can be upgraded by installed enhanced parts like better air nozzles, tight-bore inner barrels, and improved hop-up buckings that impart a more balanced spin on the BB so that it flies further and more accurately. Some gas pistols can even be upgraded with a carbine kit that turns them into a compact rifle.
How to fill a green gas airsoft pistol?
A lot of people ask us how to fill a green gas airsoft pistol and the answer is simple. Most gas airsoft pistols have a gas reservoir inside their magazines or the grip of the gun, which is common in gas revolvers. You need to charge compressed airsoft gas into the gun's reservoir each time before you shoot it. The airsoft gas can looks very similar to a propane tank with a charging nozzle, which you press against a charging valve in the magazine or in the grip of the pistol. The proper way to charge the gas is to turn your magazine or grip such that the charge valve is facing up. Then line up the charging nozzle on the airsoft gas can downward into the charge valve and press down so that the gas begins to flow into the reservoir. Keep charging until gas starts to overflow out of the reservoir, and then lift the gas can up and away from the gun. Do be reminded that green gas is essentially propane and is therefore highly flammable. Charging a gas pistol should not be performed near an open fire. How to upgrade a gas blowback airsoft pistol?
Upgrading the power or accuracy will require changing out some of the gas blowback pistol internals. Increasing airflow by changing the nozzle valve is one way of increasing power since more air means more power. A quick part to upgrade that is easy to do is the inner barrel. Upgrading to a higher quality tight bore barrel like a 6.04mm or 6.01mm inner barrel can reduce the gap between the BB and the inner wall of the barrel, creating a better seal and compression that helps accelerate the BB as it travels down the barrel. But make sure to use high quality BBs when you do this because poor BBs that are inconsistent in roundness and size can jam inside your expensive barrel. Another quick component you can upgrade easily to increase range and accuracy is the hop-up bucking, wth R-hop buckings that can induce a more stable backspin on the BB to help it fly farther.Another way to tweak a bit more power out of your gas blowback airsoft pistol is to experiment with different green gas brands, since they all have slightly different pressures. Higher pressure gases will tend to generate more power, but beware of using gasses that are too powerful for you gun. Doing so can destroy the internals and crack body components.
PRO-TIP: Since gas blowback airsoft pistols are highly sensitive to temperature, they will tend to perform well when the gas reservoir is warm. They will work best in warm weather but if you play in cold weather, keep fully charged spare magazines close to your body or wrap them in some hand warmers.
How to maintain your gas airsoft pistol?
Maintaining an airsoft gas pistol is easy. You should lubricate the pistol valves, hop-up bucking and air nozzle regularly with silicone spray to prevent o-rings from drying out. We also recommend that you use airsoft gas that is laced with silicone so that each time you charge the pistol, internal o-rings are also lubricated. The inner barrel should also be cleaned regularly to ensure it is free of oil, dust and other debris that can scratch the inner barrel when the BB travels through it. A clean inner barrel will also ensure greater accuracy and power. The externals of the gas pistol should also be wiped down to remove any corrosive chemicals that may blemish the surface of the gun when left uncleaned for long periods of time. For gas pistols which have a hammer that can be cocked, ensure to decock the gun before storing away to prevent the internal springs from being worn down. Store the pistol in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight that may cause plastic components to crack and become brittle.
As tempting as it may be to leave gas magazines fully charged so they are ready to shoot the instant you pick them up, restrain the urge to do so. The high pressures on the internal o-ring components will eventually lead to fatigue and failure, causing your magazines to leak prematurely. If you are not going to be using your gas airsoft pistol for some time, it's a good idea to only put a little silicone laced green gas in them to keep a small amount of pressure on the valve. But make sure it's only a very small amount.
Keeping your gas airsoft pistols properly maintained can keep them running reliably for many years.
