The Ruger SR1911 Competition Pistol is the first offering from the Ruger Custom Shop. It is a premium, hand?fitted 1911?style pistol developed in collaboration with world champion shooter Doug Koenig, designed specifically for high?performance action shooting matches. Its core mission is to excel in competitive disciplines such as IDPA, IPSC, USPSA, Steel Challenge, Bianchi Cup, and Pro Am Shooting.
The pistol features a hand?fitted slide and frame for a remarkably tight yet smooth action, contributing directly to its accuracy. At the heart of the competition design is a match?grade trigger system, which includes a Koenig Shooting Sports low?mass hammer, a competition sear, a flat?faced trigger shoe, a precision?machined disconnector, and a hand?tuned sear spring. Trigger pull weights are often measured around four to four and a half pounds, though exact pull can vary. Other key features include a five?inch competition barrel with a unique 1:16 inch twist rate to stabilize lighter?weight match bullets, and a sight system pairing a fiber?optic front sight with an adjustable target rear sight.
Ergonomically, the SR1911 Competition includes a TechWell aluminum magwell for faster reloads, an undercut trigger guard, a beavertail grip safety, an extended magazine release, and an ambidextrous safety. The grip is textured with Hogue Piranha G10 panels and a twenty?five lines?per?inch checkered front strap for a secure hold.
In terms of technical specifications, the pistol is available in 9mm Luger with a ten plus one round capacity (model 6766) and in .45 Auto with an eight plus one round capacity (model 6776).
